EyeCare Partners Completes Acquisition of Sabates Eye Centers

One of Kansas City’s largest multi-specialty eye care practices joins the nation’s leading clinically
integrated network of ophthalmologists and optometrists.

ST. LOUIS (Jan. 6, 2022) – EyeCare Partners (ECP), the nation’s leading clinically integrated network of ophthalmology and optometry providers, today announced it entered into an agreement to partner with Sabates Eye Centers (SEC), one of Kansas City’s largest multi-specialty eye care practices, with five locations throughout Kansas and Missouri. SEC adds 25 providers and 90 eye care professionals to ECP’s network of more than 1,000 doctors and 7,000 clinical and support team members nationwide.

SEC is at the forefront of ophthalmology education and research. The practice has subspecialties in cataract and refractive surgery, cornea, glaucoma, retina, ocular immunology, ocular oncology neuroophthalmology and oculo-plastic surgery and treats patients at its five eye care locations.

SEC President and CEO Nelson Sabates, M.D., founded and chairs the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UKMC) School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology and the Vision Research Center at UMKC, which provides the department with a direct avenue for basic science research, translational research and clinical trials. The doctors of SEC serve as faculty and lead the clinical research programs at UKMC.
